An affidavit or statutory declaration generally requires the signer to confirm that its contents are true before an authorized person. Do not sign the document in advance unless the organization receiving it has expressly instructed you to do so.
Prepare for the appointment
- Bring the complete document and all referenced exhibits.
- Bring valid, unexpired government-issued photo identification.
- Review the document for completeness before attending.
- Provide any execution instructions from the receiving organization.
The person administering the oath or affirmation does not automatically prepare the document or verify the truth of its contents. If you need legal advice or drafting, say so when contacting us so the scope can be clarified.
